25 Sep - 8.00pm - MICF Presents: Singapore vs. Malaysia
The critically acclaimed Singapore vs. Malaysia show is back! Selling out all of its previous runs, the 2020 instalment is bound to do the same!
Hosted by a neutral party (UK based Carey Marx), this show features Malaysia's biggest comedians, Joanne Kam and Kavin Jay as well as the hilarious Jinx Yeo and Sam See representing Singapore!
Going head to head withpseudo-animosity and absurd comparisons between the two countries, this one-night only show promises hilarity and probably a side of debauchery.
Oh, and no physical contact is allowed!
CAREY MARX (HOST)
A veteran of the circuit, Carey Marx concocts his own blend of dark humour with mischief and glee. His wilful disregard for the controversial and taboo is tempered with his ability to find joy in the most unexpected places. Having played all the most prestigious clubs and festivals in the world, Carey has performed in every continent and claims to have travelled more in his life than he has stood still.
Nominated for Best Comedy at the Fringe World Awards 2018, Jinx's hard-hitting punchlines, effortless delivery, and witty material, earned him a first-runner up spot at the 2011 Hong Kong International Comedy Competition and a Finalist spot in the America Meet World Global Comedy Competition (2014).
Sam See has appeared on MTV, Comedy Central Asia and Channel 5 (Singapore’s nation-wide English broadcaster). He was recently featured on The Jim Jefferies Show in the USA, after opening for Jim on the Singapore leg of his Asian tour. He has also been selected for numerous comedy festivals, including the Singapore Comedy Fringe Festival, the Crackhouse Comedy Carnival and the Magner's International Comedy Festival.
An integral part of Malaysia's comedy revolution, Kavin Jay is the grumpiest comedian on Netflix! His 2018 Netflix special "Everybody Calm Down" was placed in the Top 10 Best Netflix Specials of 2018 by Indiewire, whilst Kavin has gone on to perform across the world, from Iceland to Los Angeles, from Bangkok to Brunei. With rapid-fire punchlines and witty crowdwork, Kavin's grouchiness is delivered with such panache, you can't help but laugh.
Armed with a distinct style of acid tongue humour, Joanne’s risque material covers everything from sexual misadventure to awkward encounters with rock climbing walls. With close to 30 years of experience in the business, Joanne commands the stage with “the moxie of someone who’s eternally skulling Red Bulls”.
